THE WINTER/SPRING PROGRAMS

NEW STUDENT DROP-IN CLASS                                                                                                                                                                            come in for the evening to meet & work with us                                                                                                                                                $15/class

A workshop for those interested in learning more about the conservatory.
DATES to choose from are Wed,  2/15;  3/1,  3/15,  3/29
TIME: 6 - 9:00pm
LOCATION: Chicago's Royal George Theatre; 1641 N. Halsted St

Work during the class will include the early Meisner Technique, introduction to Physical and Vocal Technique, On-camera lessons, an Action/Verb workshop, and text drills with Open-ended Scenes. The classes will be taught by Kathryn Gately, Richard Poole, and Joe Matyas or Kendra Holton.

This will be an opportunity to learn about the school, meet some of the faculty, and be given an introduction to the training program. Work during the classes will include: Monologues and Cold Readings. To register for one or more of these classes or to get further information, you can email us at info@gatelypoole.com. For alumni who would like to refer an advanced actor to one or more of the classes, ask them to contact us for an interview at the same address. They also are welcome to come to a NEW PROGRAMS workshop on a Wednesday evening.

THE ACTING INTENSIVE                                                                                                                                                                                           our premier training program for the dedicated actor

The goal of the intensives is solid, comprehensive training combined with a positive and exciting environment. Truthful, compelling, and imaginative performances are the goals of the school. By the end of the workshop, each actor will have grown far beyond his expectations.

100 hours of class [2 week intensive], 150 hours of class [3 week intensive]. Students work 8-10 hours each day, 6 days per week, with a national and internationally known faculty. Acting classes meet throughout the day and include: acting technique--script analysis--scene study--film acting--comedy technique--improvisation--voice/speech--movement/physical technique--character work--audition skills.

LEVEL 1:

  • to build a solid technique
  • to live in the imaginary world
  • to use oneself truthfully
  • to be effortless, spontaneous and responsive to others

Level 2:

  • to develop powerful, deep emotional connections
  • to create strong and compelling objectives
  • to develop significant relationships
  • to practice action/verbs, and other advanced lessons

Level 3:

  • advanced character work
  • advanced scene work

Level 4:

  • audition skills, cold reading, and monologues
  • a video reel is made for casting directors, agents, etc
